Well chaps (and ladies), quick update on my kitchen. here it is so far. let me know what cha think.
shaders used for kettle and toaster. Going to change the overhead fan (looks out of place. displacement used for the floor and bump map used for tiles on the walls. Glass needs to be faded abit. The lighting at the moment doesn't do it it justice but that will be part of the project I concentrate on.

14th of feb
Kitchen update. 4 days away from not doing any work on it, here is a update of what i done today. Glass and abit more lighting added to the kitchen.

Glass needs tweaking but happy with it at the moment.
I have been also working on a project for the automotive design team, a small team of three have asked me (one of them being my cousin) to design a environment for the car that they design and develop as a 3d asset. for obvious reasons i can't show you designs of the car but i can show you my work i've done for them so far and over the next couple of weeks i will show my progress.
As you can see, geometry is quite complex and will get more complex.

8th of Feb texturing
Hey-ho,
Started texturing my kitchen today. Thought to myself 'lets do this'. Spent abit of time trying to find the right textures for the cabinets, tiles and work top. looked through quite a few website considered taking photos on my phone and trying to use them (quite unprofessional though)
so first thing i touched was the tiles on the walls. Here they are, gave them a hint of specular and using a Phong texture was able to add a bit of diffuse. Also slightly bump mapped it.
Cabinets were next, finding the maple texture for this was difficult but managed to find a suitable website with this texture on it and before lighting i will adjust the textures colour abit more, its either not brown enough or orange enough. can't seem to work it out.
Also turned down reflections in the cabinets but it does give a nice effect.
Finally did the work top, in the manual for the kitchen it says its a Dark Anthracite which was quite difficult to find.
will be carrying on texturing and modelling tomorrow, tonight i'm having a night off :).

7th Feb Modelling update
Hey,
Just wanted to show you my progress on modelling my kitchen. quite a few items still to model but i'm getting to that point when i know i need to start texturing, so tomorrow i'm going to start! Texturing the work will also give me some scope on what needs to be put where.
So below is a render of the sink that needs cutlury.
Next is a render of kettle, toaster and sugar pot. in the this shot theres no plugs but im going to add the plug from a previous assignment.

As you can tell i'm having a lot of fun with this project and hopefully it will look 10x better with textures. it also means you get to see the kitchen without contours. i put contours on because everything is the same texture if not a lot of time is spent on lighting then its hard to see the different objects.
lighting is a simple defaulted sun and sky at the moment, but the whole part of this project is to concentrate on the lighting, rendering and compositing so most of time will be spent on that after i finished texturing and modelling.

1st of february update

Quick update after i finished all my project last week. Here though shown is a project for production methods that has to be in, in the next couple of weeks. Now i like my modelling, and the brief pretty much says do what you like. I've decided to set up a work shop and show people how i go about making a kitchen. For the assignmnet i want to create a photo realistic kitchen. To be more percise my kitchen. this is what i've made so far. now adding detail more props etc.

I'm creating the kitchen first then setting up the workshop and then creating the kitchen from scratch with the views for some practice but also to get some feedback on my work. Also hopefullly going to use this in my portfolio.
