27th april Major Project update

hey, so heres a quick update on the major project and a Pre visualisation of the car project im currently working on for my cousin. The previous formula one car that was modelled a couple of months ago and used for my pre production project was used to demostrate the car that there team is creating in a 3D package, hopefully i will be given the model of the car next week.

here is the video for that.

Now for the Major Project the team has been working quite hard this week, one of the guys (james) is working on getting some tests done with smoke, sparks and nuke work. (Penri) is working on a updated Pre Visulisation for the assessment in 4 weeks time and (dave) has been working on rigging the car and some generic race track objects like tyre walls. I have been modelling a new car (ferrari based) and setting up the character for pre vis. adding some more stuff to him. organising the group and what there going to do for next week, also sorting out story and cinemphotography with the guys. here is the cars have done so far. a lot more detail will be added.

Basic texturing is used for these shots. next week hoping to create some stickers forthe cars and sort out the colours for the cars.

Ferrari ^^
Mclaren ^^

let me know what you think.

25th more Vue work

Hi,

So i've been playing with Vue a bit more playing with different lighting set ups, finding out how to connect Vue to Maya and then render with Mental ray which looks very nice.

here is the renders.

^ Above is a Shot using Mental Ray. the tree in the background were made by the eco system in Vue and the tree is also Vue
^ Test 1 lighting moon light in maya using mental ray.
^Same shot just render using Vue.
^Test 2 exprimenting with the sky.
^ Test 3 lens flare added to try something unique.
^est 4 sun set, personally I really like this lighting.
 ^Test 5 more of a sunset.
^finally test 6 normal daylight test.

As i'm back in university, the workload has quadrupled. so I will be uploading a lot more things in the weeks to come from my major project, production methods and more Vue work.

Thanks
Rich

12th April Vue work

Hey,

So i havent updated since about a week and a half ago. one of the reasons is because the Uni is now on break for easter. However i've been working in new software known as Vue Xstream. A environment package that is fairly simple to use but the user can create remarkable environments with the tools avalible.

Here is a couple of renders I have achieved with the package for a project.

Sun, clouds and a boulder used in the shot above. gave me an idea to apply my cathedral to the scene and came up with the shot below which is very good. this though gave me and understanding into the package.

First to create the landscape and then create clouds, sea and objects that will go on it.

here is the sea added.

Then the cathedral and edited the clouds a little bit. the image here are a little bit grainy as well. as im new to the software it will probably take me a while to get rid of it.

This final shot took around 4 hours to complete. i'm sure though when i'm used to the software it will take me less time to create a realistic image.

I'm having a lot of fun creating this sort of stuff and will persue in more detail in due time.

Any questions or advice, don't hestiate
Thanks
Rich

3rd of April pre production

hey,

last week I had a Pre Production assessment to complete. Here is the renders, play blasts and some of the sketches for the project.

Before i go into showing you the work i did here is a synopsis of the Narrative i chosen for pre production.

"A wheel Bolt on a Formula 1 car is part of a large crash at corpse corner on silverstone race track. The audience is taken through his adventure as he tries to jump to freedom and escape the peril of the crash".

so first off I started with story boards here are a couple of shots from it.

Here is some quick concept art sketches

Leica Reel

Leica Reel was composed together with the story board shots. here is also some turn tables of some assests that were created for the storyboards and pre viz.

Crash Analysis

Before I finished my Pre Visualisation, i did this.

Here is two Character sheets
 (Washer and Bolt)

Here is my pre visualisation.

The Pre Visualisation is a representation of my idea, at the end of the assessment we were put into two groups. my idea was picked, so now 4 of us will work on it to develop a final 3 minute animation.
